2 Nephi

2 Nephi 16

We will end this week with a short and sweet chapter only thirteen verses long.  Reading the header for the chapter, I can only imagine that the verses here are powerful.  Please read the chapter for yourself: 2 Nephi 16.

While it is glorious that Isaiah sees the Lord and that he converses with Him, the verse that I love from this chapter is verse 1o which reads: “Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shit their eyes- lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and be healed.”

There are only two references from this verse for clustering, and that is okay for today.  We are sent to go look up what it means to hear with ears.  We go to read Matthew 13:14-15 and there we learn that even though our ears function, if our heart and mind are not open to receive that which we need, we will hear nothing.  The second clustering word in this verse is heart and here we are sent to read Proverbs 2:2 which reads;”So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding.”  I think this is all the same.  If we do not have soft hearts and open minds, we will fail our mission here on this earth.  We have got to have soft hearts and open minds, be steadfast in Christ and endure to the end so that we can be resurrected and once again live in our eternal families in glory.  I know that this is the path that I strive to be on and I pray that each of you can strive to be there too.  Do your best, that is what He asks.

I write this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
